Try to visualize the synergy between facets of the game. A couple other things I realized that helped me have more fun. My advice: don't build a highly RP-enforced character for your first playthrough, as it will be difficult to maintain without knowing how to play well. I was/am also intimidated by the game, but I'm on a second playthrough (first with 2017 update) and am having a lot more fun. Like the wisest woman in cartoon history once said: "Take chances, make mistakes, get messy!" XD Hopefully these random ramblings can help give you ideas. So rather then dealing with a bully directly, you can get other bullies to hate that bully and then they will spend time fighting each other rather then you xP If this doesn't interest you then gossip can be somewhat ignored or not the big part of your focus anyways.ģ) There's a lot of other talky related skills (diplomacy, etiquette) that will be nice to have once you've found your bearings but don't need to worry too much about that at start of game. Not that making a gang of misfits is a bad thing, it's actually quite fun :P Since you're new I'll direct you to a character that is good to have if you want to be get a cool kids club: Emilia Picotti, she is the school's social butterfly.Ģ) Gossip is for when you have established a clique with 3+ppl imo and is used to both to encourage positive rumors between 2 ppl (useful to help mitigate someone you want to recruit into your clique hating your other clique members) or if you want to undermine those you hate by making others hate them too and bully them. This is assuming of course you even want a clique, but assuming you do, also keep in mind that if you recruit unpopular kids, it will make getting others to join in your gang that much harder compared to getting the "cool kids" who everyone likes and wants to join. Focusing on social pursuits kinda pauses you btw in sense you're not doing anything else and this can be frustrating the first month or so. Besides having subskills like conversation, to get other kids into your clique, you'll need to pass a befriend roll which gets harder every time you add a new clique member (not least because they won't only factor in their relationship with you, but also with your clique members so if the person you want to recruit loves you but hates your two other friends, it will make the roll that much more difficult). Oh also dealing with the interface, a lot of people have been playing this game for years so have gotten used to it but admittedly it can be improved xDįor playing social characters heres some noobie advice:ġ) Your key skill is going to be befriend initially. Just sticking to talking and spying won't give you all the tools for every problem you will face but if you're scared you'll invest in a talky character only for them to be useless at everything, don't worry, diplomacy and negotiation ain't looked down on in this game )Īnd yeh, this is the hard part about academagia, the initial shock of having tons of options and being a bit lost as to which options are relevant for how you want to play. Is this a game I can just jump into and learn as I go? I've looked around on the forums and wiki but I still feel underprepared/intimidated to even attempt this game. I'm just wondering.Īlso I was sad to read that maybe familiars aren't worth pursuing because you train them and then only get to apply half of their ability to a roll or something? IE if a teacher gives a lesson should I be taking notes? Will I need to learn things for my character to succeed? I would enjoy that. I'm also wondering if passing tests or doing well in classes is simply about training numbers, or is there any player knowledge or skill taken into account. I have some ideas about characters I might want to make, but I'm just worried about getting game overs because I trained in skill x which is (almost) useless but didn't train skill y which is pretty much always required.
